box w color correct

I mentioned earlier in the week that I hadn’t completed my project from last Saturday’s River City Stampers meeting. Well, now I have. I also extend special thanks to my bud Marguerite Harty for furnishing the great cigar box for this project.

It only uses one sheet of double-sided paper, but I kind of went overboard on the embellishments. I guess I figured that if a little bit o’Tim was good, a lot was even better.

I used the border on the box because it was too pretty to cover up. I also left the Dominican Republic label in the lower left corner for interest. I just couldn’t bear to do more than add some wax rub-ons to tone down the color a bit. (more…)

They really get my creative juices flowing! (more…)

sisters title page

I love that old Bing Crosby-Rosemary Clooney musical. I heard my mother and her three sisters refer to it often throughout their lives and thought how it applied to most all sisters, no matter what the age difference.

I’ve had the idea in the back of my mind for a long time to make a handmade book about (more…)

I wrote about the Viva® Paint Pens, Soft Color and Metallic Colors a few days ago and finally had a chance to play with them today. I used plain cardstock which I had on hand, but Viva also makes a nice cardstock that is formulated to work well with their products. (more…)

The scrapbooking industry is still on the rise despite economic factors, uncertain times and apathy. In fact, more and more people are turning to memory preservation as a way to keep family stories alive.

We all have gone into our favorite local scrapbook store (LSS) and come upon the latest and greatest new papers from one of our favorite companies and just had to have them – every one of them. (more…)

thinking of you card

This is a little quickie card I made that looks like it took a lot of time. All the pieces were scraps from other projects in my stash, so I look at this as found money.

Those of you who know my work will be surprised to find that I did not use a piece of plain cardstock for the base, but chose patterned cardstock, with a light-colored simple print on the other side for this piece. This way, I can use just about any color marker for my inside remarks and not worry about whether it will show up or not. (more…)
