marvy punch card

I have always been a flower lover, from the time I helped my grandmother plant flower seeds to the ’67 Summer of Love when I graduated from high school to the tattered fabric flowers that are so popular in scrapbooking today. (more…)

I just bought this new Sizzix Tim Holtz die for another project and had to play with it the minute I walked in the door.

I grabbed a piece of scrap out of my pile and it happened to be the perfect size. I wasn’t intending to make anything. It just happened. One of those “Ah ha!” moments. (more…)

box w color correct

I mentioned earlier in the week that I hadn’t completed my project from last Saturday’s River City Stampers meeting. Well, now I have. I also extend special thanks to my bud Marguerite Harty for furnishing the great cigar box for this project.

It only uses one sheet of double-sided paper, but I kind of went overboard on the embellishments. I guess I figured that if a little bit o’Tim was good, a lot was even better.

I used the border on the box because it was too pretty to cover up. I also left the Dominican Republic label in the lower left corner for interest. I just couldn’t bear to do more than add some wax rub-ons to tone down the color a bit. (more…)

Well, not really like the lottery or anything, but this product is so cool! I was cleaning my studio today (story of my life) and came across a package of it that was never properly stored. Properly stored means I know where I put it and can find it when I need it.

The product is called Stampbord. It is a thin piece of Masonite which is coated with clay. You can ink it, stamp it, emboss it, paint it and/or spritz it. Just about anything that you use to add color or create an image with can be used on this product and it comes in several sizes. My favorite technique is to stamp an image in black, use lots of color and scratch out highlights. (more…)

mousketeers w copyright

When I was a child, I loved the Mickey Mouse Club. My sister and I would rush home from school every day to see Annette, Tommy, Cheryl, Darlene and all the other Mouseketeers.

I loved the serials, too, and can still sing the song from one of the few scary ones: “Gold doubloons and pieces of eight, (more…)

notepad tin for bradford with ©

I was going to write about the sweet potato vine that has taken over my deck today, but ran across a photo of a project I made late last year as part of a series of repurposed items. My friend Janet and I had shared an order of cd tins and several arrived with slight dents. Since it would have cost more to send them back and there were very few damaged, we just shared the handicapped ones as well. (more…)

sisters title page

I love that old Bing Crosby-Rosemary Clooney musical. I heard my mother and her three sisters refer to it often throughout their lives and thought how it applied to most all sisters, no matter what the age difference.

I’ve had the idea in the back of my mind for a long time to make a handmade book about (more…)
